Crap I’m sorry I came off that way! :( 

After thinking on it for a bit, I realized that the post came from an internalized racist part of me I haven’t addressed yet. In assuming that I can’t approach black people the same way that I do anyone else (after a few failed attempts), I’ve already Othered them (which is exactly what I don’t want other people to do to me.) You’re right, I should just be myself.
